Catching a Rising Star...

Late last spring, Bray won 2nd place at the Opera Birmingham competition. We were thrilled he did so well, and thought that was that. Later in the summer, though, Bray received a call from the director of Opera Birmingham, asking if he would do a solo recital for their fall series. It was to be heavily opera-themed music, and they asked if I would accompany him! The recital was just a few days before Halloween, and between several other performances/trips for both of us. Although life was insane for much of October, we managed to get the music ready (with some coachings from good friends and heads of the voice and piano departments at ULM) and headed to beautiful Birmingham to perform. We both had an amazing time, and though I've never been more nervous in my life, it was a privilege to play for my favorite tenor, person and entertainer. Steve, Wendy and Charity were able to come and the weekend was an all-around success.
